FleetWeek New York is an eagerly awaited annual NYC tradition. Thousands of sailors, marines and Coast Guardsmen visit NYC on dozens of navy and Coast Guard vessels and tall ships.
For many of these sailors, the week is an opportunity to show off their ships and work to adoring throngs. It’s also an opportunity to cut loose in NYC, a sailor tradition that goes back at least as far as when Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly spent 24 hours in NYC in “On The Town.”
Many of the fabulous ships that visitors flock to are parked at the Intrepid Pier and Piers 90 and 92 on Manhattan’s West Side, in the high 40s or low 50s on 12th Avenue.
For visitors to these ships, it can be challenging to find a good meal or drink after a day of visiting the ships, as the area is a restaurant wasteland.
But there is some good news – Brickyard Gastropub, one of the best restaurants in midtown NYC, is just a 7-10 minute walk from each of these Piers. We have an outstanding menu for adults, a kids’ menu, the best craft beer in NYC, a full bar, and a great atmosphere in which everyone always has a good time. But don’t just take our word for it; read the stellar reviews of Brickyard Gastropub on Open Table.
So whether you’re a group of sailors enjoying your “On the Town” moment or a group of sailor admirers hungry, thirsty and eager to find a comfortable chair, visit Brickyard Gastropub during Fleet Week!

Julie Feeney Irish Arts Center
Called “incomparable” to any of her contemporaries, Julie Feeney will grace New York City with her talents at the Irish Arts Center for ten nights from April 25 – May 6. The show is at the Donaghy Theatre (Irish Arts Center) located at 553 W. 51st Street between 10th and 11th Avenues. All shows are at 8:00 pm on Wednesday to Sunday night each of the two weeks.
Julie is the winner of the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year. A native of Galway, Feeney is a classically trained composer and performer. Coming off of her successful radio series’ 26-week run exploring all things related to music on RTE 1′s radio (Ireland’s national television and radio broadcast), Julie Feeney is excited to be performing in New York City again.
You would be remiss not to catch this exceptional songwriter and performer. The Washington Post termed her voice “distinct” and “one not heard from the West of Ireland since Dolores O’Riordan took the Cranberries global.” The Village Voice called her style the “pop ambitions of Gaga with Elvis Costellvian wordplay.” When is the last time you heard a comparison to Lady Gaga AND Elvis Costello in the same review?
Tickets for the Julie Feeney show are $20 for non-members.
Before or after the show, come visit us at Brickyard Gastropub, one of the best restaurants near the Irish Arts Center. We’re a 5-minute walk away, and we have something for everyone, whether it’s Grilled Porterhouse Lamb Chops and a glass of white wine, our Pan Seared Brook Trout and a pint of Guinness, or a Build Your Own Burger, Sweet Potato Fries and a pint of Founders IPA. As the reviews of Brickyard on Open Table make clear, we’re one of the best restaurants in the Theater District. Come see why for yourself!

After a great night on the town, you look forward to a great meal in the morning with the people with whom you shared the evening. In most great brunch spots in NYC, this necessarily means that you also get long waits, crowded conditions, harried servers and a subpar overall experience.
Skip that scene. The Brickyard offers a spectacular weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. You can stroll in any time between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. And we promise – no long waits, and you’ll receive the stellar, attentive service that you’ve come to expect from our outstanding staff.
Ours is one of the best NYC brunch menus.
- It begins with the best traditional Irish breakfast in NYC. We do it right, bringing the core ingredients in from the legendary Butcher Block in Sunnyside, Queens. We offer two eggs any stile, black and white pudding, Irish sausage, lean Irish bacon, beans, grilled tomato and sourdough toast. Combine it with a few traditional brunch drinks or a pint of Guinness and you’re good to go for the rest of the day!
- Our “Brickyard Benedict” offer two poached eggs, lump crab meat, tomato, spinach, and hollandaise atop a buttery croissant, served with home fries.
- Our French Toast consistently earns raves; thick slices are topped with Nutella and bananas and the subtle sweetness of Pomegranate-infused maple syrup from Vermont, and accompanied by pecan wood-smoked bacon.
- Our “mini Quiche of the Day” changes constantly but is consistently the most popular choice on the menu.
- Customized omelets are another go-to Brickyard brunch menu item — take your pick of three fillings, including local vegetables, organic cheeses and meats. For those craving something more substantial, we offer a New York Strip Steak and Eggs, a 6oz strip cooked to your preference, served with eggs however you like them, served with our not-to-be-missed home fries.
- If you’re in need of a little hair of the dog, you’re in luck. We’ve taken the liberty of pairing each dish on our brunch menu with a craft beer from one of the best beer lists in NYC.
So enjoy your night out, knowing exactly where to go when you wake up. See you soon.

This week we introduced another marvelous craft beer to our lineup. Breckenridge Agave Wheat.
It’s brewer describes it this way: “Agave complements the refreshingly light quality of our wheat and adds a subtle note of flavor that expands this beer’s uplifting taste profile. It is familiar, yet creative.”
The beer has won a “Beer of the Month” award from Chicago Tribune, which wrote, “the agave nectar gives this wheat ale a subtle honeyed fruitiness that makes it… muy delicioso.”
By the Pint wrote, “Breckenridge has put out a great wheat beer. The Agave Wheat tastes like you’d expect a wheat beer to taste but with a little extra sweet tang. If you like your wheat beers to have that traditional taste but want something with a twist, then you’ll love the Agave Wheat.”
