Brickyard is One of the Best Restaurants Near Terminal 5

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

One of the top concert venues in Manhattan is Terminal 5.  Over the next 30 days, as Terminal 5 will be packed nearly every night, with this calendar of upcoming events, which includes Underoath, Dr. Dog, Paul van Dyk, Trey Anastasio, Girl Talk & Max Tundra, and Flogging Molly.

If you read reviews of Terminal 5 on Yelp, you’ll see they are a mixed bag.  One consistent complaint in these reviews? It’s so far from the subway. At 56th and 11th, the best subway stop for Terminal 5 is the E or C train at 50th & 8th.

Once you get off the subway at 50th and 8th and walk 3 minutes to the best bar near Terminal 5, The Brickyard Gastropub, at 52nd and Ninth Avenue. We offer our new fall menu, a bar menu, the best beer list in New York City, and a Happy Hour both before and after each show at Terminal 5. Once you’ve partaken of our craft beers, such as Ommegang, BluePoint and SixPoint, you’ll have just a 5 minute walk over to Terminal 5 for the show.

Brickyard Gastropub is rapidly becoming the party headquarters for Terminal 5. Join us this month and see why.

The Year of Lombardi Continues at the Brickyard

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

With Brickyard being one of the best sports bars in midtown, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’ve taken a shining to Lombardi, at the Circle in the Square Theater, which is less than a 5 minute walk from our front door. Lombardi is a play about Vince Lombardi, the legendary coach of the Green Bay Packers. While many know the legend of Lombardi, not as many know he is a native of Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, and a graduate of Fordham University, Class of 1937.

To understand the legend that is Vince Lombardi, read:

Once you buy tickets to see Lombardi, the next thing you do is Google “what are the best restaurants near Circle in the Square” or “best dining near Lombardi?” That’s why we write these blog posts; to bring together the fans of our favorite show with the best bar and restaurant near Circle in the Square. Yes, a mere block west of the theater district, there awaits a marvelous pre-theater meal that can be enjoyed in a less-rushed, more reasonably priced, and far classier place than their usual spot.

Most of the traditional dining spots in Times Square and the Theater District bilk harried tourists by serving passable, expensive meals in assembly line fashion. At the Brickyard, we offer outstanding fare, cooked to perfection, served with a smile and in an unhurried manner. For proof, see our stellar reviews on Open Table, where we are one of the top-rated restaurants in New York City. When we offer you a table for pre-theater dinner, we’re not worried about how long you’ll stay. With our list of 24 craft beers, new wine list and fall menu, how could we possibly move you along?

The Brickyard is a family-friendly restaurant.

We’re also one of the best restaurants for near the August Wilson Theater, which hosts the Jersey Boys, a short stroll down 52nd Street. Just a block further away is Wicked, making Brickyard a great choice for those looking for restaurants near the Gershwin Theater.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day Early, With Sunday Brunch

Friday, February 11th, 2011

At Brickyard, we’re preparing a very special Valentine’s Day night.

For those for whom an unhurried, romantic dinner on a Monday night is not feasible this year, we suggest an alternative Valentine’s Day: Sunday brunch.

In most restaurants in New York, the leisurely midday meal that is brunch tends to come with a few unwanted additions: crowds, long waits and overpriced menus. But we want brunch to be something you can look forward to, and then actually enjoy. With that in mind, our weekend brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays, and you can stroll in any time between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. And we promise – no long waits.

And the menu? It’s anything but ordinary. You won’t see basic eggs benedict or blasé pancakes, but you will find interesting takes on classics, and seasonal ingredients combined creatively–like our outrageous entree salads, our famous Brickyard Club, Spinach and Artichoke or Roasted Shallot, Potato and Bacon Frittatas, French toast & Caramelized Apples, and NY Strip Steak and Eggs. All for between $10-$15 per entree.

Brunch is quickly becoming one of our most popular meals; come by with your loved one(s) this weekend to find out why.

Enjoy Your NYC Valentine’s Day at Brickyard

Friday, February 11th, 2011

To most of us, Valentine’s Day means a day for celebrating romance. It may be with a significant other, or with your family or friends. You want to enjoy time with people you love, and celebrate the romance in your life or the possibilities for it.

To most restaurant owners, Valentine’s Day is a bonanza. This year, it falls on a Monday night, so most restaurants can look forward to better-than-normal business from Friday through Monday. When love is in the air, how do most restaurants respond? Why, by jacking up their prices, naturally. It’s as though they think you should prove your love for one another by spending way too much on a meal. Just as catering halls charge an extra $50 a head for weddings compared to other parties, on Valentine’s Day, most restaurants offer only a “prix fixe” menu, which should more honestly be called a “prix grande” menu.

Not the Brickyard! No, we don’t raise prices for the holidays, for the Super Bowl, for March Madness, not for anything. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we’ll confess that we love our customers. We love those who come by every week, and we love hearing from nearly all our newcomers, “we’ll be back.”

So this Valentine’s Day, we’ll be offering our regular menu at regular prices. But we’ll also be offering a prix fixe menu – not a prix grande menu. Indeed, our prix fixe menu offers an appetizer, entree, dessert and a glass of champagne for $80 per couple! (tax and tip not included). We challenge you to find a better deal in Manhattan from a restaurant that is so highly rated (see reviews of Brickyard on Open Table, which accepts reviews only from verified diners, where we consistently rate four stars or better).

While many of our blog posts build up our bona fides as one of the best sports bars in New York City, this one will also note that we have a separate back room with a quieter, more sophisticated and romantic vibe. Come see for yourself.

We expect to fill up quickly; please call us today at 212-767-0077 for reservations.

Where to Watch the Super Bowl in NYC: Brickyard Gastropub

Sunday, February 6th, 2011

We’re the midtown New York sports bar for grown-ups. We’re passionate about sports, our beer and wine, and our outstanding food menu.

For the Super Bowl, we’re doing something different than most other bars in New York City. Other places are charging $50 or more per head, forcing you to gorge yourself on the aforesaid cheap beer and meatless wings. We’re offering our regular menu at regular prices, with our usual NFL specials. And some not so usual specials honoring the gastronomic traditions of Green Bay and Pittsburgh.

For Green Bay Packer fans, we’re offering a bread bowl with Wisconsin Cheddar, Beer and Bacon Soup.

For Pittsburgh Steeler fans, we’re offering a bread bowl with cheesesteak soup.

For all fans, we’re offering $20 sampler platters and $5 pints of craft beers. No Bud Light in a plastic cup at the Brickyard.

The Brickyard is not one of those cavernous sports bars whose capacity rivals Madison Square Garden. We don’t want large, rambunctious crowds; just a few score of fans who are serious about the game, their drink, and their food. For the Super Bowl, we’re offering table reservations, which must be claimed by 4:30 pm. Call us today at 212-767-0077 to reserve your table.

Welcome to the best sports bar in midtown Manhattan for grown-ups.
