Monday, October 31st, 2011

It felt like winter this week in NYC, but it’s really autumn – hopefully Mother Nature will remember soon too! If you’re not already in the mood, check out our new fall dinner menu! What says fall more than Pumpkin & Ricotta Gnocchi? Hand-rolled gnocchi, paired with roasted patty pan squash, pumpkin seed, & brandy creme…pair it with a Lagunitas IPA for a perfect meal. Or, try our unique Potato Crusted Flounder. Served with haricots vert, roasted tomato, and saffron beurre blanc – a perfectly filling yet light meal.

Or, stop in for lunch - we’ve got one word for you. Poutine. Made just a little differently by the Brickyard chefs, our new take on this Canadian classic features sweet potato fries with fresh mozzarella, chives, and Ommegang Abbey infused demi-glace. What more could you ask for out of a fall lunch? (And, don’t forget our Lunch Special – $11.95 for select lunches – including our famous burger! – and a craft beer, house wine or soda!)

Of course, these are just some of our favorites. Check out our full menus to find your favorite new or classic meal, and come see us for a meal and/or some craft beers. Indulge in autumn at Brickyard!

Date Night: Relatively Speaking on Broadway and Brickyard

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

Ethan Coen. Elaine May. Woody Allen. Names ring some bells? Even if you’re not a Broadway or film fanatic, chances are that you’ve heard of and/or seen at least one of the productions from a member of this talented trio. Coen is famed for working with his brother Joel and most recently for directing (and winning the Oscar for) No Country For Old Men. May has played many roles – director, screenwriter, and actress – since beginning her acting studies over 60 years ago, best known perhaps as a writer of acclaimed film The Birdcage. And Allen….well, he’s Woody Allen.

So, it’s truly something special that these three come together in the new Broadway production, Relatively Speaking. Three one-act comedies, one written by each of talented writer. Each act springs from a different branch of the family tree: family, weddings, death. And – of course, it comes with an all-star cast, including Steve Guttenberg, Ari Graynor, Jason Kravits and more. The New York Times loved it – their review is worth a read.

Showing now at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre at 47th and Broadway, this is sure to become a classic. Get your tickets now and start planning your night! Where to eat before or after? Skip the lines and chain restaurants and come on over to Brickyard for an affordable, delicious meal – from fall favorite Pumpkin and Ricotta Gnocchi to Potato Crusted Flounder, we’ve got something for everyone. (If bar food is more your taste, we don’t judge! Our bar menu will blow you away.) Best of all, we’re just steps from Broadway – but miles from TGIFridays.

Make it a date night with Relatively Speaking and Brickyard and you’re guaranteed to go home happy!

See Private Lives on Broadway and Eat at Brickyard!

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

A story that was first told in the 1930s and is equally appropriate today has to be a good one. Case in point: Private Lives. First written in 1930, this comedy focuses on a divorced couple, who discovers that they are honeymooning with their new spouses in the same hotel. We won’t ruin the plotline, but suffice it to say they may still have feelings for one another….

The play was first performed in England, touring the British provinces then settling in London, and starred famed actors like Gertrude Lawrence and Laurence Olivier. A year later, in 1931, it opened on Broadway – where it has been revived quite a few times over the years. This November, it’s back in a limited run starring Kim Cattrall of Sex and the City fame. A very apt choice for the lead, it’s been said that Cattrall “shines with shimmering Monroe-esque appeal”…and we believe it.

The show starts November 6? Don’t have tickets yet? Don’t worry, as of this writing, they are still available here. And, now that you’re planning your night, plan on coming to see us at Brickyard before or after the show. If you’re into Broadway shows, you know what a pain it can be to find good and affordable food near the theaters – so why bother? Come see us at Brickyard instead. Just a ten minute walk (at 52nd and 9th) from the Music Box Theatre showing the play, our diverse and affordable dinner menu is sure to please, with options from Free Range Brick Chicken to the popular Beer Battered Fish and Chips on our bar menu. And, without the crowds or the hassle of the Broadway chains.

So, for an easy, fun NYC night – make it a double – see Private Lives and eat, drink, and be merry at Brickyard!

Ah, the office holiday party. Gotta love it, right? An annual event that is often dreaded and usually very much enjoyed when the time comes. We don’t judge…) with the team….or seeing the ‘quiet’ ones begging for karaoke…or, well, let’s just say we’ve seen a lot in our day! But, no matter what your particular team is like, it’s always good to socialize a little outside the office and blow off some steam – and a holiday party is a great excuse to do it.

Irish Breakfast Served Every Weekend

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

No one does breakfast like the Irish do. When you wake up at dawn to work awhile in the fields, then came in for one meal before heading out to the fields till sundown, you learn to make that one meal last.

Many Irishmen enjoy eggs, sausage, bacon, pudding, tomatoes and fine bread for breakfast every day of their lives. Even those who live in New York or other big cities and have the luxury of eating several times a day like to return to the traditional Irish breakfast now and then.

At Brickyard, we serve Irish breakfast as part of our Brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday. Since we only offer it twice a week, we do it right, bringing the core ingredients in from the famous Butcher Block in Sunnyside, Queens. We offer two eggs any stile, black and white pudding, Irish sausage, lean Irish bacon, beans, grilled tomato and sourdough toast. Combine it with a few traditional brunch drinks or a pint of Guinness and you’re good to go for the rest of the day!

We offer Brunch on Saturday from 11 am and Sunday from noon. However, we often open early when European football is on the telly, so call us if you’re up with the roosters and want to get a taste of home.

Call 212-767-0077 for Brunch reservations.
