USA Women’s Olympic Soccer 2012
Wednesday, July 25th, 2012
Last summer, the US Women’s Soccer World Cup team won the hearts of all of America with its stirring run to the final match of the World Cup. Though it lost that match to Japan, it developed a fan base awed by the professionalism, athleticism and grace the members of the team exhibited along the way.
The team now turns to the 2012 London Olympic Games. It has largely the same roster it had in the 2011 World Cup, with just one new player (striker Sydney Leroux) added to a roster that includes Abby Wambach, Hope Solo and Alex Morgan.
The team will play three group games and then in the knockout stage.
Brickyard Gastropub will show all of the US Women’s Soccer team’s games.
In the Group Stage, the U.S. will square off against France, Colombia and North Korea, three teams it met in the World Cup.
The Americans handled Colombia and North Korea in the group stage, and scored two late goals to beat the French in the semi-final. The team opens with its toughest group game, France, on Wednesday at noon EDT. It plays Colombia on Saturday at 11:50 a.m and North Korea on Monday at 12:15 p.m.
The quarterfinals will be played on Friday, August 3rd, the semis will be played on Monday the 6th and the final will be played in Wembley Stadium on Thursday the 9th at 2:45 p.m. Visit NBCOlympics.com for the full schedule.
