Weekly Specials Cooked & Paired with Craft Beer

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012

Though a relatively new entrant on the scene, Brickyard Gastropub has quickly become known as one of the best beer bars in NYC. Not only have we sourced an outstanding selection of 24 craft beers, but we also rotate our lines often, and offer pairings of food and beer that complement each other.

Now, we’re taking it to the next level. In recent weeks, our Executive Chef, Mally Bunchorntavakul, has created nightly specials cooked with one of our world-class craft beers. As Honest Cooking wrote in February, craft beer is a natural tenderizer and leavening agent, and contains a wide array of flavors that make it an excellent marinade.  The results of Mally’s efforts have been stupendous, and we’ve sold out of nearly every dish cooked with craft beer.

Henceforth, each week from Wednesday to Sunday, we’ll offer one dinner special, cooked with craft beer; naturally, we recommend that you pair the food with the beer in which it is cooked.

This week, we’re offering Founders IPA Glazed Hops Smoked Beef Ribs with late summer purple wax bean, watercress and crispy shoestrings potato salad.

Here’s the tentative schedule through Thanksgiving; be sure to LIKE our Facebook page for updates, finer details and photos of the special each week.

Visit Brickyard After The Colbert Report

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

New York City offers many opportunities to catch the world’s best entertainers at work, often for free.

The hottest embodiment of this right now is The Colbert Report, which began as a spin-off of The Daily Show for an 8-week run and is now about to enter its 8th year, having won multiple awards in nearly every year of its run.

While tickets to TCR are free, that doesn’t mean you won’t have to work hard to get them. As Randy Pausch said, brick walls are there to keep out people who dont want things badly enough. TCR wants people in its audience who really want to be there, and can prove it. The official website for Colbert Report tickets typically says that tickets are not currently available, and invites you to provide an email address to be notified when they are. But there are three other ways to get tickets, and each requires you to break down a brick wall to get them.

The first is to follow the DailyTix Twitter feed; it notifies you when tickets have been released for The Colbert Report or The Daily Show.

The second is to stand in-line for General Admission; line  up around 4 pm. While this doesn’t guarantee admission, it gives you a reasonable shot at obtaining it without planning months ahead, and you may at the least meet some interesting people on the line.

The third is to support a charity by buying tickets through a charity auction. You’ll often see this on eBay or other charity auction websites. Search Colbert Tickets on Google (or another search engine) and then use the Advanced Search function (found on Google by clicking on the Gear icon in the upper right hand corner of your screen) and then limiting the search to items posted in the past month.

The studio for Colbert Report is at 513 W. 54th St., just a few minutes walk from the Brickyard Gastropub, which, in all truthiness, is the best restaurant near Colbert Report. We offer 24 craft beers that rotate often, outstanding, innovative fare, and an ambiance that is perfectly suited to host people who have been laughing till their sides hurt for several hours. Don’t take our word for it; read the reviews of Brickyard Gastropub on Open Table, which are better than you’ll find for any NYC restaurant in our category.

Good luck in your ticket search. Once you successfully scored tickets and seen the show, you shouldn’t have to search any more – come to Brickyard Gastropub and enjoy the best meal and drinks you’ve had in quite awhile.

Best Bar in NYC to Watch Women’s Olympic Soccer Final

Monday, August 6th, 2012

Last summer, the US Women’s Soccer World Cup  team won the hearts of all of America with its stirring run to the final match of the World Cup. Though it lost that match to Japan, it developed a fan base awed by the professionalism, athleticism and grace the members of the team exhibited along the way.

Now the team, largely the same players, gets a rematch after an epic defeat of Canada today.

Many of the team’s new fans wonder where to watch US Women’s Olympic Soccer in NYC.

On Thursday, August 9, at 2:30 pm, Brickyard Gastropub will show the US vs. Japan in the Women’s Olympic Soccer finals.

With nine giant screens and the best beer menu in NY, Brickyard Gastropub is one of the very best bars in New York City to watch Olympic Soccer.

We have an outstanding menu of food, including our new bar menu.

Call 212-767-0077 to reserve your table today!
